Roma Academic Music and Drama Theater "Romance"

Founded in 1994, Roma Academic Music and Drama Theater "Romance" is the first and only state Roma professional theater in Ukraine, specializing in classical romance, musical drama, and national folklore. Over the years, it has presented solo concert programs, performances, and thematic evenings based on the finest examples of original musical Roma culture to audiences in Ukraine and many countries around the world. In 2003, the theater received state status. Its repertoire is diverse and continuously updated and modernized. The central theme of the performances revolves around universal human issues and experiences, such as the relationships between parents and children, love for one's nation, culture, art, and word. The goal of the theater is to explore and showcase the culture and worldview of the Roma within both their national identity and Ukrainian life.
