The National Philharmonic of Ukraine actively promotes domestic and international classical art heritage, revives Ukrainian national culture, and regularly organizes international competitions and festivals. It also participates in national and international art projects, presentations, creative reports, scientific conferences, exhibitions, and cultural events with the involvement of state leaders and government representatives. The Philharmonic's ensemble includes 19 People's Artists, 32 Merited Artists, six Merited Art Workers, five Merited Cultural Workers of Ukraine, numerous laureates of international and national competitions, and 11 artistic ensembles.
In the 1990s, the Column Hall named after Lysenko was closed for restoration and opened in December 1996. During the reconstruction, an organ was installed on the balcony, a new Steinway grand pianos were purchased, as well as a number of orchestral musical instruments from the Yamaha company (the latter - with a grant from the Japanese government).
