Chocolate House

0 15 0

The Chocolate House was built in 1901, designed by Volodymyr Nikolaev, the chief architect of Kyiv. The house is painted in a chocolate color, which inspired its name. Inside, the halls are decorated in various architectural styles, each with its own name: Moorish, Renaissance, Modern, White, Byzantine, and French. Each hall impresses with its luxury and beauty. For example, the White Hall is designed in the Rococo style, featuring a white and gold color scheme. A large chandelier hangs from the ceiling, and the walls are adorned with intricate patterns. A massive Venetian mirror immediately draws attention. In the past, this hall hosted concerts and balls. Notably, the building's exterior has been preserved almost in its original form to this day. Currently, the Chocolate House serves as a renowned art center in the capital. Since 2010, it has housed a branch of the National Museum known as the "Kyiv Picture Gallery", where various exhibitions of paintings and contemporary sculptures, musical concerts, and other cultural events take place.
