V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (NBUV)

0 20 0

The V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (NBUV) is the country's largest library and its main scientific and information center. The vertical part of the building was specifically designed to house book depositories, with minimal light access to prevent damage to the books. The horizontal part accommodates reading rooms, exhibition halls, and staff offices. The interior is decorated with works of art of significant artistic value. The main scientific activities of the library include forming and utilizing scientific and information resources, library informatization, creating a national bibliography, and developing new technologies for preserving and studying library collections and Ukrainian historical and cultural heritage. The collection is founded on large book holdings from the 18th and 19th centuries, including the fundamental libraries of the Kyiv Theological Academy, Kyiv St. Volodymyr University, and the Nizhyn Historical and Philological Institute. The institution also has numerous specialized collections, such as the Manuscript Institute fund, the music and sheet music collection, and the fine arts department fund. The venue regularly hosts excursions, exhibitions, presentations, scholarly conferences, and lectures.
