During the construction of theKhortytskyi housing estate on the right bank of the Dnipro River in 1969, A. Shyriaiev excavated a burial mound between Lakhtynska Street and Yuvileinyi Avenue (in the area of the current market). The height of the mound was 3 meters and the diameter was 30 meters.
Two Scythian burials from the 4th-3rd centuries BC were found in the mound. One of them had been looted in ancient times, while the other contained two iron spearheads, bronze arrowheads with wooden remains that retained their blue and red colors, two more spear tips, and a bronze sword hilt.
These burials are contemporaries of the famous Egyptian pyramids and tombs. Today, local residents use the mound as an ice slide in the winter.
