Today Ukraine celebrates the Day of Unity. On January 22, 1919, the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic were united into one state. The Day of Unity of Ukraine became an official state holiday in 1999.
This day symbolizes the unity of the lands of Ukraine. The main tradition on Reunification Day is the construction of the "Living Chain". It first connected Ivano-Frankivsk (via Lviv) and Kyiv on January 21, 1990. Between 1 and 5 million Ukrainians took part in it.
"Conciliarity" means unity. On this significant day, we wish unity around the common desire for prosperity for Ukraine, understanding and harmony for every family.
